I've read every mystery written by bill tapply and feel like I've lost a friend that I've know for 20 years. After reading his obituary, I'm heartened to know that he was a good and decent human being who brightened the lives of his readers as well as his many friends.

Professor Tapply,
You were the most fantastic teacher I had at Clark. You made class engaging and relaxed. There are so few individuals who have your success, yet take the time out to laugh with and encourage young minds. Thank you; it was an honor!

I always knew him as "Mr. Tapply" because I met him when he was my youngest son's history teacher. I was happily surprised to discover Brady Coyne by accident, and wrote to Mr. Tapply at the time to comment favorably, which he seemed to appreciate. He died way too soon!
