Bill was more than a teacher and a mentor to me. He was my friend. Since I graduated Clark in 2003, we continued to keep in touch on a monthly basis. He's helped me through writers block, family problems, heath issues and given me endless advice on caring for my dog. This is an incredible loss. My thoughts, prayers and love are with his family right now.

I was surprised and I'm sad to learn about Bill's passing (on to a great reading room possibly). I remember his solid demeanor and personality. Always left you smiling somehow. Wow, I never realized he was so accomplished! I've learned that he lived a great life and will be missed by many. Vicki, I am sorry for your loss. May you always smile and feel warmth and happiness when you think of Bill.

My sister was in Bill's class at LHS and I was a year ahead of Martha. Loved his books, my sister has given me the whole collection. I will miss his wonderful stories. My deepest sympathy to Martha and Bill's family.

ms. vicki, i had the honor of fishing and enjoying fellowship with bill while he visited my lodge in arkansas a couple of years ago, for a benefit for st judes, we shared the river and cooresponded afterwards. he wrote of some of our fishing days in the angler. he gave me the book of his collections of his dad's "taps tips", it is a treasure, as was bill. we shared family histories, and it was obvious, you, and the kids were the benchmark of his life--please accept my deepest condolences--god bless and love--wayne
